Japan is often associated with iconic images such as Mt. Fuji, samurai, and geisha. The GEISHA Tour offers an authentic Japanese cultural experience at a traditional ryotei in Mukojima, Tokyo, where guests can enjoy geisha performances and traditional ozashiki entertainment. We offer two courses: the “Tokyo Geisha Experience,” an accessible way to discover geisha culture, and the “Royal Course,” where guests can relax and enjoy geisha performances together with fine Japanese cuisine and drinks.

Traditionally, the world of geisha entertainment at a ryotei can be difficult for first-time visitors to access. We will be your guide and accompany you throughout the experience, making this special world welcoming and accessible.

The history of geisha dates back approximately 300 years to Japan’s Edo period, and geisha continue to play an important role in preserving traditional Japanese culture today. Right before your eyes, they will perform traditional Japanese songs, shamisen music, and dance. Through conversation with the geisha and traditional ozashiki games, you can experience Japanese culture rather than simply observe it. Make your stay in Japan and Tokyo truly special!

Tokyo Geisha Experience

Sample Schedule

  • 2:00 PM: Meet in the Tokyo Skytree area and walk with our attendant to the ryotei.
  • Around 2:30 PM: Arrive at the ryotei and enjoy a welcome drink.
  • Around 2:40 PM: Geisha dance performance, conversation and Q&A, and traditional ozashiki games.
  • Around 3:45 PM: Photo opportunity with the geisha.
  • Around 4:00 PM: Experience ends at the ryotei.

Royal Course

Example Schedule:

  • 17:30～: Meet the client in Asakusa. Guided to a Ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurant).
  • 18:00～21:00 approx.: You will enjoy fine Japanese food and sake at the Ryotei while watching Geisha dance and music. You will also have the opportunity to play Ozashiki with Geisha.
  • Around 21:00: See you off.

While there are other tours where you can meet Geisha and Maiko, most of them are more of a hands-on experience. The Geisha Tour is a more authentic and authentic experience. It is a service for you or your group only, so you can relax and enjoy yourself. During a full three hours in the tatami room(Ozashiki), you will enjoy fine Japanese cuisine and sake while watching traditional songs and dances performed by geisha. You will also have the opportunity to experience unique Japanese cultural activities such as pouring sake and playing Ozashiki-Game. As a rule, first-time visitors are not allowed to enjoy authentic Japanese traditional Japanese entertainment in the tatami room. However, “The Geisha Tour” is available for first-timers (first-time visitors), with our company acting as the introducer. We also provide English- or Chinese-speaking attendants to ensure that first-time guests can enjoy the experience with peace of mind.
This is authentic Japanese cuisine. The menu varies depending on the season, but consists of appetizers, soup, sashimi, grilled dish, bonito, tempura, vinegared dish, and mizugashi(ice). If you have any food allergies or dislikes, please let us know at least 7 days prior to the banquet so that we can accommodate them. You can also change the dishes for an additional charge. Please let us know at least 7 days in advance.
Geishas are trained daily in the arts of singing, dancing, tea ceremony, and flower arrangement. What they perform in the tatami room are traditional Japanese songs and dances. They also learn to play various musical instruments such as the shamisen and Japanese flute.
Maiko is the term used in Kyoto, while in the East it is called Hangyoku. A Maiko (Hangyoku) is a woman who is training to become a Geisha (Geiko). The main job of both Geisha and Hangyoku is to entertain guests with songs, dances, and other artistic performances. Since this is in Mukojima, Tokyo, sometimes a Hangyoku will be in the tatami room.
As a general rule, one geisha or hangyoku is arranged for every two guests.If two geisha are assigned to three guests, an additional fee may apply.For four guests, two geisha will be assigned, and for five guests, at least three geisha will be arranged.When additional geisha are requested, a fee of JPY 30,000 (tax included) per geisha will generally be charged.Please note that depending on availability and circumstances, we may not always be able to accommodate your request.

All ages and genders are welcome. Small children are welcome to participate as long as they do not jump up and down during the three-hour tatami, but it is appropriate for children to be at least 18 years old. Elderly people can also sit in the kotatsu-style tatami room, which is similar to a chair. Regular chairs are also available. Although “The Geisha Tour” is originally designed for overseas travelers, many Japanese people are interested in this event. Of course, Japanese people are also welcome to join the tour.
Although some Geisha are fluent in English, our attendants generally speak English or Chinese and can interpret for you if necessary.
